How secure is your company’s financial data?

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

As the scale of your business grows and you begin to accumulate more and more valuable financial information in your ledgers and reports, it is not uncommon to spend some time thinking about the security of your system. Who has access to your information? How secure are the programs that store your data?  What sort of encryption is being used for the online aspects of your accounting?

These are all great questions, and the answers can lead to some startling revelations. If you found yourself with some less than confident responses to any of the questions above, it might be time to make the leap to a professional accounting solution like the Sage 300 ERP Accpac system.

The latest version of the Sage 300 ERP Accpac accounting system communicates all of its data through Transport Layer Security (TLS). This goes a long way in ensuring no one is looking over your shoulder and peering in on any of the confidential information that moves throughout your network. It also allows your business and its employees the flexibility to access private information from home, the office or on the road without worrying about the risks of exposing valuable company data to malicious parties.

Of course safe practices and informed employees still go a long way in making any company information safe but the Sage 300 ERP Accpac accounting system can give you the security you need… not to mention a little peace of mind.

Hooray for Budget Day!

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

It’s that time again. Today marks the day that British Columbia’s provincial government will unveil the 2012-2013 budget. Paired with this annual report, will be the news of B.C.’s newest holiday, a Christy Clark led initiative titled ‘Family Day’ that is estimated to cost small business owners an average of $1135 in labor costs alone.

While this is a difficult burden to bear for any small business owner, using the budget feature through your Sage 300 ERP Accpac system can lighten the load. Easy to create and even easier to use, budgets in your Sage 300 ERP Accpac system will let you compare performance numbers, forecast numbers for up to 20 years in advance, and develop bench marks that you can use to develop long-term financial strategies.

With the budget feature in Sage 300 ERP Accpac system working for you, news from the B.C. government about a new holiday might just mean a day off instead of a day spent worrying about the budget.

Important change in support for MISys SAE

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

MISys has sold more than 7,000 copies of its manufacturing software to companies using Accpac for accounting. The most current version of the MISys software is MISys Manufacturing SBM, which integrates with Sage ERP Accpac v6.0.

The previous version of the software, MISys SAE, is still in use by more than 1,000 companies, though no new features have been added to the software since its version 5.6 release in March of 2010. That was a long time ago in terms of software.

Effective Monday, February 13th, MISys will continue to provide technical support and activation codes to MISys SAE users, but only if they have a current maintenance plan for MISys SAE. The price of the maintenance plans will be included on notices sent to existing subscribers for their annual renewal, and can be quoted for new subscribers upon request.
